Heritage Pamphlets - Between 1985 and 1994, the Rhode Island Heritage Commission (now part of RIHPHC) and the Rhode Island Publications Society (chaired by Dr. Patrick T. Conley) published a series of pamphlets discussing Rhode Island's ethnic heritage. The Rhode Island Ethnic Heritage Pamphlet Series grew out of an effort to record a brief account of each group's Rhode Island experience from motivations to migrate to early years of settlement and from the persistence of cultural identity to contributions to the development of our state. To date, representatives of 13 different heritage groups have authored pamphlets--now available for online reading and download. These publications have not been corrected or updated since their original release.

Why Public Art Matters  "Art can celebrate the qualities that make one place different from another. The best of public art can challenge, delight, educate and illuminate. Most of all, public art creates a sense of civic vitality in the cities, towns and communities we inhabit and visit."
